KELLOGG — Seven duals into the season, Lake City coach Corey Owen likes where his team is heading so far.

Lake City beat Timberlake 48-24, then handled Kellogg 42-32 on Wednesday at Andrews Gymnasium in a tuneup for this weekend’s Tri-State Invitational at North Idaho College.

“We’re in pretty good shape right now,” Owen said. “We’re wrestling hard late in matches and we’re winning those matches because of the conditioning we’re in. It’s really paying off for them late in matches right now.”

Kenzie Lindsay (152 pounds) and Kaleb Jacobs (132) went unbeaten on the night for Lake City.

Mason Keough went unbeaten at 145 pounds for Coeur d’Alene, which also swept Timberlake and Kellogg.

“Our guys just took care of business tonight,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “We had some young guys that wrestled really, really well.

Tri-State begins on Friday at 10 a.m. at NIC.
