RAINBOW SQUAD: Protest not in God’s image

| December 15, 2021 1:00 AM

I was heartbroken when I read Madison Hardy’s story on Dec. 1 about the protest at the Post Falls library against the Rainbow Squad, based on “disapproval.”

We live in an area with a church on every corner, rental spaces in our public schools and hints of a new mega church soon to be built. You would think, then, we would be a beacon of love and kindness, so bright it would extend beyond our borders illuminating all in its path.

Instead in Saturday’s My Turn column, we read a hateful, self-righteous diatribe castigating the library and the Rainbow Squad. The library is for everyone, even you, Pastor. The child abuse in this area has nothing to do with the LGBTQ community — quite the opposite, in fact.

I was taught as a child that God is love, Jesus is love! Racism, misogyny, antisemitism and homophobia are not love, but hate.

Keep your misguided religiosity in your church and out of our library. Try feeding the hungry and clothing the naked. Try love and kindness; it will be a better world.
