RATHDRUM — Skylar Burke scored 28 points and Madi Symons added 20 as the Coeur d’Alene Vikings pulled away in the second and third quarters for a 62-36 victory over the Lakeland Hawks in Inland Empire League play Tuesday night at Hawk Court.

Burke scored 13 points in the third quarter for Coeur d’Alene (7-0, 3-0 IEL), hitting all 7 of her 8 free throws during that quarter.

“We knew going in those were the two kids we had to dial in on,” Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said. “Coeur d’Alene did a good job running its stuff, and they did a good job running around. We lost track of ‘em a few times.”

Addie Kiefer had 17 points, 10 rebounds and four steals for Lakeland (2-6, 0-4), which committed 16 of its 22 turnovers in the second half.

“We did a great job taking care of the ball in the first half,” Seymour said. “We struggled against pressure in the second half. It seemed like Burke and Symons were everywhere.”

Coeur d’Alene plays host to Lewis and Clark of Spokane on Friday.
