Garnett, David Robert, 72

| December 15, 2021 1:00 AM

July 11, 1949 to Dec. 2, 2021

Dave gave cancer a good fight for seven years, but in the end, COVID-19 got him at a hospital in Hawaii, shortly after sunset. He was 72. He was born in Coeur d'Alene and lived his entire life in Coeur d'Alene. With his passing the world is now a lesser place.

Dave had many talents, could fix most things. He was a big kid and played as hard as he worked. His passions were hanging wallpaper and traveling. Really loved visiting Hawaii, Disneyland, Las Vegas and many more places. We took many road trips as the children were growing up — memories, memories that will be cherished. He would often call family and friends, just to keep in touch. He was a mentor and friend to many, always willing to lend a hand.

Dave was a 50 years Mason, Kootenai Lodge No. 24, and 49 years a Calam Shriner, Potentate in 2018. He ran the Shrine Popcorn Booth at the Kootenai County Fair Grounds for many years.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Richard (Bill) Garnett and Cecile Garnett, also his aunts and some cousins.

Dave leaves his wife of 35 years Susan, sister Edelle Rieken (Rudy), brother Richard Garnett (Debbie). Children: Daniel, Mark and Sarah. Grandchildren: David A., Jameson and Evolyn. Also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donations, if you choose to, may be sent to the Spokane Shriners Hospital at 911 W. 5th Ave. Spokane, WA 99204, or Kootenai Humane Society at P.O. Box 1005, Hayden, ID, 83835. Or of your choice.

A celebration of life is planned for Sat. Jan. 15, 2022, at the Coeur d’Alene Shrine Club, 1250 W. Lancaster Road, Hayden, ID. 83835. Time 1-4 p.m., short program at 1:15 and then social time. Mask-wearing would be appreciated.
