WSU's Leger-Walker named Pac-12 Player of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO — The Pac-12 Conference named Washington State sophomore Charlisse Leger-Walker the Pac-12 women's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending on Dec. 12.

The 5-11 guard from Waikato, New Zealand, averaged 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.5 assists in a pair of come-from-behind wins this week at Gonzaga (51-49) on Wednesday and at home against Boise State (62-55) on Sunday.

Leger-Walker scored 14 points to help Washington State pick up its first win at Gonzaga since 2014. The Cougs also became just the third team to win at Gonzaga since 2018. The guard then had 23 points in a comeback win over Boise State at Beasley Coliseum.

In an ambitious bit of scheduling this weekend, WSU plays at BYU on Saturday at 11 a.m. Pacific, then flies east to play at Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y., on Sunday at noon Pacific.

"We had a team drop out on us for a game late in the preseason," WSU assistant sports information director Chris Caskey said. "The coaching staff really wanted to play a full schedule this season and the Dec. 19 game at Cornell was literally the only remaining open game in the country at that point."
