Chiefs fall short to Winterhawks

PORTLAND — Cordel Larson scored a goal in his second straight game for Spokane, which was outscored 4-0 in the final two periods of a 4-1 loss to the Portland Winterhawks in front of 2,378 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Friday.

Spokane (6-13-2-1, 15 points) falls to 0-2 on the season against Portland.

Portland scored three goals in the first 8:05 of the second period to take a 3-1 lead. Portland outshot Spokane 15-8 in the period.

The Winterhawks capped the scoring 18 seconds into the third period.

Portland outshot Spokane 34-26 in the game.

The teams meet again tonight at 6 in Portland.
