NIC MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cards fall to Green River

AUBURN, Wash. — Freshman Taden King hit a 3-pointer with 45 seconds remaining to pull North Idaho College within one point, but the Green River Gators held on to beat the Cardinals 67-65 in a nonconference game on Thursday night.

NIC missed the front end of a one-and-one with eight seconds remaining that would have tied the game, then Green River’s Nate Berg made the second of a two-shot foul to stretch the advantage to 67-65. NIC then turned the ball over.

Sophomore Julius Mims had 24 points and 19 rebounds for NIC (3-5), which faces Shoreline of Seattle tonight. Xavier Bailey scored 17 points off the bench for the Cardinals.

Trey Anderson hit 4 of 5 from the 3-point line, finishing with 24 points for Green River (5-5).
