Student art show closes Friday
North Idaho College’s Aspiring Art Show is a chance for students to get their name known.
“It was an amazing opportunity to have gallery owners look at my work,” said NIC student Zoe Potter. “It was a very cool experience to be a part of my first art show.”
The show was put on by the Aspiring Artists club, a group of NIC students, who usually run a show every semester.
Robert Perry, club vice president, said what’s special about the show is it gives students a chance to get their work viewed by local gallery owners. The club invites gallery owners to judge the show, and winning pieces get hung in local galleries.
The first place winner, “It’s Behind You,” by Moe Adams, will be shown at The Art Spirit Gallery; second place, “Letting Go,” by Paige Staudohar, at Blackwell Gallery; and third place, “The Spill,” also by Adams, at Emerge.
"I was extremely surprised," Adams said. "Having both of my pieces being picked for two different galleries was so cool. I’m very excited to be able to show my work in a professional gallery, and it makes me hopeful of having more of my art in galleries in the future."
Set up in the Student Union Building, the show at NIC closes on Friday. Art is also available for purchase.
