PASTOR: The shame is yours

| December 8, 2021 1:00 AM

This letter is in response to Pastor Steven Hemming and his opinion published in the Dec. 4 Coeur d’Alene Press.

How can you refer to yourself as a man of God out of one side of your face and spew intolerance and bigotry out of the other side?

You think God would approve of the library protest? Really? People like you are the reason I don’t go to church. I choose to believe in a God who is compassionate and loving, not full of ugly hate and vitriol. A church is the one place you should always be welcomed and accepted.

Do you seriously believe that anyone would choose to be gay, especially with people like you in the world? Knowing that one-fifth of the world’s population is gay, I truly believe that people are born gay. How could God find fault with something he himself created?

People should not have to hide who they are. They should be able to love who they choose. You should be helping young people to accept who they are without fear and shame instead of making things harder for them like you seem determined to do.

You’re the who should be ashamed. You need to climb down from your Ivory Tower and see the world the way it really is.

As for the library, good for them! The library is for everyone.
