Kootenai County deputies investigate hit-and-run accident

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office received a report at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday of a vehicle-pedestrian accident that occurred on Ramsey and Tugboat roads just south of Hayden Avenue.

As deputies were responding, it was learned the vehicle involved in the accident had fled the scene.

Northern Lakes Fire and Kootenai County deputies arrived on scene and contacted the victim, who was conscious and alert. The victim was treated at the scene and transported to Kootenai Health for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored mid to late '90s Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle was last seen southbound on Ramsey Road.

Due to the nature of the accident, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Team was called to assist with the investigation. The Traffic Team is seeking assistance from the public to help with the investigation. As a result of the accident, Ramsey Road was blocked for several hours.
