A cleanup effort on Tubbs Hill will dive deep on Wednesday, as law enforcement and a local business plan to remove debris from Lake Coeur d’Alene.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team, local dive shop Jake's Scuba Adventures and the Coeur d’Alene Parks Department are partnering in the effort. Cleanup will begin at 11 a.m. and end at about 3 p.m., a KCSO news release said.

“The purpose of this project is to remove trash and debris from the water in this heavy use area,” the release said. “Similar operations have produced hundreds of pounds of garbage and (were) done on a smaller scale.”

Following the effort, KCSO Sgt. Ryan Miller said the agencies would weigh the garbage before hauling it to Coeur d’Alene waste facilities. He estimated they could remove as much as 1,000 pounds or trash.

The public can watch near the Third Street Boat Launch in Coeur d’Alene. If interested in assisting the cleanup, visit www.jakesscubaadventures.com.
