August Bernard (Bernie) Blondeau, 80

August Bernard (Bernie) Blondeau, 80 years old of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away on Nov. 1, 2021.

He was born in Houston, Texas, on Aug. 14, 1941, to Paul and Louise Blondeau. He graduated from Kellogg High School in Kellogg, Idaho. He was married to Janice Friedrichs on Dec. 26, 1966.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul Blondeau and Louise Franklin Blondeau, his wife of 49 years; Janice Friedrichs Blondeau (72 years); his son Robert Paul Blondeau (16 years); his sisters Shirley Blondeau Larson (Ed Larson) and Robbie Blondeau Orr (Curt Orr).

He is survived by his son, Bryan Bernard Blondeau; his daughter Jenine Marie Blondeau; his daughter Brandy Teresa Santiago (Bill Santiago); and his two grandchildren Isabella and Joseph Santiago.

Bernie served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1966. In 1966 he met and married his wife, Janice Friedrichs, in Kellogg, Idaho. After relocating to Portland, Ore., in 1967, he worked for Argo International until he retired in 2003 in Sammamish, Wash.

Bernie enjoyed his life to the fullest. He enjoyed cooking for friends and family, telling stories and jokes, traveling and sports. He was an avid fan of basketball, whether it be the local high school or the Zags. He volunteered countless hours working with the Knights of Columbus for their charitable events. He loved yardwork and was happiest on his riding lawnmower.

Bernie will be remembered most for the kindness he showed to others and his infectious smile. He was a great man and will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Dec. 11, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Otis Orchards.
