PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Heath helps Post Falls complete 3-0 weekend

| December 5, 2021 1:15 AM

POST FALLS — With a third game in as many days, the fourth in five days for host Post Falls, you can understand if the pace on offense wasn’t that fast.

But defensively, it was sharp.

Lexi Heath hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points as the Trojans beat Rocky Mountain of Meridian 52-22 on Saturday afternoon at The Arena.

Capri Sims had six points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals for Post Falls (4-0), which went 3-0 against schools from the Southern Idaho Conference this week after opening the season with a 65-47 win over Central Valley on Tuesday.

“It was a great weekend,” Post Falls coach Marc Allert said. “We got to see different competition, which was good. Everyone brought something different, so we got to work on some different things. It was good to have that tournament atmosphere. I thought it was a great deal.”

Post Falls led Rocky Mountain 24-8 at halftime.

“We played really good defense,” Allert said. “The game slowed down a little after playing a third day in a row. Rocky Mountain came out in a zone and slowed things down a bit, but we were able to play good defense as well.”

Brielle Magnuson, who played as a junior at Post Falls, had 10 points for Rocky Mountain (0-4).

SPOKANE VALLEY — Turnovers in the first quarter and fatigue in the third helped do in the Hawks in a loss to the host Eagles to conclude the Border Clash.

Guard Chloe DeHabo scored 20 points for West Valley, which jumped out to a 21-8 lead after one quarter.

“We played well last night, but it was just a different animal we faced today,” Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said. “West Valley was aggressive and quick and we had a hard time containing them defensively. We were just a little too loose with our passes, especially in the first quarter.”
