Gene R. Retter, 83

| December 5, 2021 1:00 AM

Jan. 2, 1938 - Nov. 26, 2021

Born in Moscow, Idaho, raised in Eastern Montana until 1948. Then moved to Kellogg, Idaho. Graduated from Kellogg High School in 1956. Spent four years in the U.S. Air Force, most of which was spent in Okinawa, Japan. Married Yoko Kinjo. They had two children, Kimberly and Jeffrey. They later divorced and he married Sharron Hogan.

He was a baker in the wholesale trade and was production manager for Snyders Bakery for a time. Retired from ADM Mix Plant in Spokane, Wash.

Gene was an avid fisherman who spent as much time as he could “going to work” as he would say on Coeur d’Alene Lake. A long standing member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, where he held several positions on the board including president. Another organization that saw a lot of Gene was the Hauser Lake Gun Club where he both shot and volunteered.

A well loved guy who was always seen wearing overalls and a baseball hat. He will be missed by many. He is survived by wife Sharron Retter, daughter Kim Kinjo and son Jeff Retter.
