Take the New Year's Day plunge in Bayview or Sanders Beach

| December 3, 2021 1:00 AM

Vicky Richardson is issuing the call for fearless people to join the Polar Bear Plunge at 10 a.m. Jan. 1 at the public boat launch in Bayview.

Eleven came out last year, including kids and a father and son from Spirit Lake, and she is hoping for “49 or so” to come out on Jan. 1

“We have more crazies there this year,” the Bayview woman said.

The temperature of Lake Pend Oreille is expected to be about 35 to 40 degrees.

In Coeur d’Alene, the traditional Polar Bear Plunge will once again be at noon on New Year’s Day when hundreds, young and old, will rush into Lake Coeur d’Alene, dive under, and run out screaming.
