Jonathan Ethan Moore, Sr. (Morecedes Brown)

| December 1, 2021 1:00 AM

Jonathan Ethan Moore, Sr., Morecedes Brown or “Mo” as many came to know him by, was born in Redding, Calif., on Jan. 15, 1971, to Bill and Dee Moore. In 1977 the family moved from Redding to Hayden Lake, Idaho. Jonathan dedicated most of his adult life to his work as an entertainer and to raising his three children.

Morecedes Brown, as he came to be known as on stage, created and preformed beautiful music, and provided stunning performances on the big screen in numerous acting endeavors. He is best known for his song "Day After Day," originally a tribute to the love he saw between his mother and father growing up. Other songs such as "You’re Not Alone," "Carry On" and "Morecedes Love," continue to be beacons of hope for those for whom his music touched. Performances on screen such as "Forbidden Power," "Out of the Darkness," "Moon Knight," "The Cutter" and "Wrong Turn at Tahoe," showed Morecedes preforming in his natural element and highlighted just how comfortable he was in front of the camera. Morecedes Brown founded Ethan Dynasty Productions, named after the shared middle name “Ethan” by him and his sons.

Jonathan Moore, Sr. was an amazing, loving and caring father to his three children. Through the numerous struggles that come from living in a blended family, Jonathan never stopped showing his kids just how much he loved them. As life continually ravaged his family and kids, be it mental illness, legal trouble or even something as “small” as a break up, he was there as a strong pillar holding them up, a lighthouse in every single storm.

His love of music was passed down to all of his children, and almost every car ride turned into a performance in itself, with kids and dad alike singing to the R&B stylings of Brian McKnight, Luther Vandross, Babyface and Boyz II Men. The concept of family, and the importance of sticking together through anything is something that Jonathan constantly imparted on his children. The sense of unity he instilled in them came from numerous nights of Pokémon Puzzle League, Wii Golf and Monopoly, and is a legacy that will be carried on by his children.

Jonathan was a pillar of faith when it came to God and Jesus. This man continually put his unquestioning faith in the Lord, and time and time again, the Lord took care of him. He imparted this lesson on his kids over and over again, the lesson that faithfulness in the Lord our God is always enough.

Though he went by many names, the passion and light he carried into each room he walked into was infectious and is sorely missed by all who knew him, regardless of what you called him. Whether you knew him from bowling, or karaoke, or from his small tire business, his smile, laugh and optimistic attitude was offered at every turn.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his father, William Anthony Moore, Sr., and sister, Gina Elizabeth Moore. Jonathan is survived by his three kids: Jonathan Ethan Moore, Jr. or BJ, Kahlil Ethan Wilson-Moore, and Aliya Jasmine Moore; as well as his mother, Dolores Eileen Moore; sister, Cecelia Eilene Moore; brother, William Anthony Moore, Jr.; brother, Marsell Dwayne Colbert; and countless friends, family, siblings and cousins.
