Christine “Chris” Douglas, 67

| December 1, 2021 1:00 AM

Christine (Chris) Douglas, 67, passed away peacefully in her home on Nov. 25, 2021, surrounded by close family members after a courageous battle with cancer.

Chris was born on Nov. 14, 1954, in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, to Richard and Shirley Jost. She attended IHM Academy and graduated from Coeur d’ Alene High School in 1973. She was the third oldest of ten kids. Her early days were spent riding bikes, going to the park, enjoying summer days at Sanders Beach, and bossing her siblings around. She married Michael (Mike) Douglas on Dec. 28, 1974. After marrying Mike, they moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where they started their family with Jennifer and Mindy, and then relocated to Rathdrum, Idaho, where they had Gina and Katie. Chris lived in the family home until her passing. She worked for the Coeur d’Alene School District for 30 years and retired in 2017.

Chris’s number one passion was her children and grandchildren. She was a loving grandma who always put family ahead of herself. She loved attending the many school and sporting events that her grandkids were involved in. Chris also enjoyed many memorable weekends camping with family and friends throughout the years. We will all miss Chris’s cookie platters and the other holiday treats that made celebrations just a little more special.

Chris is survived by her four daughters: Jennifer Erickson, Mindy Johnson, Gina Liddiard and Katie Lohmiller; her four sons-in-law: Todd Erickson, David Johnson, Nick Liddiard and Ryan Lohmiller; her grandchildren: Ella, Mica, Devon, Koby, Ethan, Kylie, Aspen, Amelia, Ayla, Adley, Rylyn, Koen and Kacen; her three brothers and six sisters. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mike Douglas, and her parents, Richard Jost and Shirley Winebarger.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, at Lake City Church, 6000 N. Ramsey Rd., Coeur d’Alene, with a reception following. Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit Chris’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at yatesfuneralhomes.com.
