RISCH: Remember working class

| August 18, 2021 1:00 AM

Sen. Risch’s recent email letter decries the feudalistic economy being proposed by the new democratic bill! He really touted socialism, which is defined as anything that benefits working people, like the police and fire departments, public roads, health care and education.

The Republican position is that bill will run up the deficit and make people too dependent on government. The 2017 Republican tax cut that benefits the super corporations, is costing taxpayers over a trillion dollars. Where was your concern over funding then? Did you tell your constituents that their taxes and the deficit would go up?

Those tax cuts were supposed to be used to grow businesses with equipment and jobs, but not one word of that was in the Republican bill. So, the rich have gotten richer. They paid down corporate debt and bought stock shares, providing few jobs.

The new bipartisan infrastructure bill was not permitted to be funded by going after the super wealthy who use lawyers to avoid their taxes or hide their money in tax havens. I think it is time to make it illegal to violate the intent of the tax code. Put those words in the code and go after the cheats. Require the super wealthy to pay their share.

Sen. Risch, when you fret about the cost of services for the working class and turn a blind eye to a corporate welfare system enriching the super wealthy, you’ve turned the American workers into tenant farmers struggling to survive. Earn working class votes!
