Latin dancers shine in CDA

| August 13, 2021 1:00 AM

About 300 Latin dancers showed off their moves recently at the Hagadone Event Center. Dancers came from all over the Northwest and a few flew in from San Diego.

Tammy Kelly organized the event that brought dancers out that have not been dancing much, if at all, since the coronavirus.

“I am so blessed to be part of something so much bigger than me,” Kelly said.

She said that she has to laugh when people ask where her studio is as she was new to dance about for years ago but fell in love with the culture and family that is created by all who join Latin dancing.

Kelly said most of the studios that teach Latin dance in Coeur d'Alene and Spokane had a good time.

A main attraction was Michael Saltus and his dance Partner Rosey Solomon, both of which have won multiple championships.

"The most incredible thing is that it does not matter if you have never stepped foot on a dance floor and think you have no rhythm or if you have danced, competed and won titles for years, everyone comes together to teach and we all learn together," Kelly said.
