GROWTH: Group’s leaders applauded

| August 13, 2021 1:00 AM

Since I am part of the Regional Housing and Growth Issues Partnership advisory group, I would like to weigh in on David Lyons’ Aug. 4 Letter to the Editor.

I have found both Kiki Miller and Hilary Anderson eager to get input from everyone in our advisory group. Yes, the format is a bit different since our comments and questions are entered into the chatbox, but all comments and questions are always acknowledged, read out loud to the group, and answered.

I personally find this to be a very productive way to interact with the many participants in attendance. I have sat on numerous boards over the years and it can become a waste of everyone’s time when someone in attendance goes on a long-winded diatribe and simply wants to criticize rather than help find solutions. In those cases, nothing gets accomplished.

Bottom line, I find this advisory group to be run very efficiently by Kiki and monitored by Hilary. And yes, they have brought together experts and presenters on a variety of topics including open-space alternatives for the prairie.

Having witnessed the population explosion here firsthand, I feel our priority must be to find solutions quickly. The working group that was mentioned has been an enormous help in sorting out what we can and cannot do legally within a short period of time.
