POST FALLS — Post Falls Police have no leads in the case of the Tullamore Park vandal.

The department continues investigating after a child was injured at the Post Falls park last week.

Police are unable to comment as the investigation is in process but they did confirm that a child was injured going down the slide.

The culprit struck twice within about a week, inserting a screw through the bottom of a slide’s surface with the sharp point facing up.

Officers are doing drive-by surveillance of the park about every hour through the day, said Capt. Greg McLean.

Other than increased eyes on the street and the Parks & Recreation Department continuing daily inspections of the parks in Post Falls, no further action has been taken — except by generous citizens.

More than $2,000 has been collected or pledged for a reward fund inspired by local attorney Starr Kelso.

The reward money will go to whomever provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the Tullamore Park vandal.

If the reward money is not claimed, it will be donated to Post Falls Parks & Recreation to buy security cameras.

If you have any information that would help the police, call 208-773-3517.

If you'd like to contribute to the fund, send a check made out to the Coeur d’Alene Press at 215 N. Second St., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814. Include a note that the donation is for the playground reward fund.
