THREAT: And patriotic duty

| August 11, 2021 1:00 AM

America would benefit from a history lesson and some patriotism.

A total 407,316 Americans lost their lives in World War II. Thus far, more than 630,000 Americans have lost their lives due to COVID-19.

Stopping the spread of dangerous totalitarian regimes in Europe and Asia required both sacrifice and the complete resolve of our nation. In response, more than 50 million of America’s Greatest Generation willingly signed up for military service and more than 10 million were compelled by a draft to serve in this most just cause.

None of those volunteers or draftees was given any guarantee they would come home. There were risks, but Americans patriotically fell in line.

Today, as we face an even greater threat of the spread of this dangerous virus, sadly millions of reticent Americans stubbornly or ignorantly resist necessary vaccination. This latest war requires herd immunity, and that means we need to again sacrifice and accept a tiny risk from the vaccine in order for us to collectively win.

Today, we are in grave danger of undoing the miraculous early progress of vaccinations as we face new variants like Delta, now Delta Plus and others. I’m a proud American who has willingly chosen to be vaccinated not just for my health but for the benefit of everyone.

Step up if you haven’t already and take a jab for America.
