County officials have postponed tonight’s meeting of the Optional Forms of Government study commission following a high rate of illness in the Sheriff’s Office and health care system.

In a media release from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday evening, officials recognized that the meeting had “generated a great deal of public interest.”

Due to this, illness in the Sheriff’s Office, and “the fact that our local hospitals are stressed to capacity,” Sheriff Bob Norris, the board of county commissioners and members of the study commission felt postponing was well advised.

“We believe that postponing at this time is prudent to show our appreciation and support for our local health care partners,” the release said. “We know many of you were hoping to attend. We will make every attempt to reschedule as soon as possible.”
