Edith Weingand, 92

| August 10, 2021 1:00 AM

Edith Jean Weingand, known most often simply as “Jean,” passed away suddenly but peacefully on Aug. 2, 2021, from natural causes. Born on May 18, 1929, in Hendersonville, N.C.

Jean married Jack Weingand at the age of 18 on June 30, 1947. They were happily married for 40 years until Jack’s death in 1987. During that time, they raised their three girls in San Francisco until settling into Novato, Calif.

While raising their daughters, Jean worked at various stores demonstrating Columbus-brand meats, a job that allowed her to do what she loved best: meeting and conversing with hundreds of people.

Jean had a love for antiques, ballroom dancing (including both dancing herself and critiquing contestants on “Dancing with the Stars”), and china-painting. Never one to spend a night at home, Jean was an avid patron of the Spokane Symphony, as well as a passionate supporter of local arts. Her ultimate love was for God and those at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Jack and son-in-law, Paul. She is survived by her three daughters - Jan Truebenbach, Jane Duncan, and Jenny Jensvold; sons-in-law Stan Duncan and David Jensvold; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In true fashion, Jean spent her final day lamenting that she wasn’t able to attend her beloved Bingo game. May her memory be eternal!

Bell Tower Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
