'Summer Party' benefits Boys & Girls Club

| August 6, 2021 1:06 AM

“A Summer Party for the Boys & Girls Club of Kootenai County” is scheduled Aug. 19 at the Hagadone Event Center.

The fundraiser, described as “an evening of fun and marvelous entertainment,” is being presented by Coeur d'Alene's Jerry and Ellen Jaeger and will feature opera singer Melissa Batalles, originally from Argentina.

“She is truly amazing,” Ellen Jaeger said. “She will be singing many popular Broadway hits which the audience will recognize immediately.”

Batalles has won many honors and was chosen as the Audience Choice for the famous McCallum Theatre. She will be joined for her Coeur d'Alene performance by Constance Gordy.

“I guarantee the attendees will be thrilled,” Ellen Jaeger said. "Plus, it is for a wonderful cause to benefit our North Idaho kids."

The evening is resort casual and will feature a relaxed atmosphere with hosted cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and the entertainment will be from 5:45 to 7:15.

The Jaegers are underwriting all costs to make sure all proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Kootenai County, which has sites in Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls. It's an alternative place for kids and teens to spend time, connect with adults and new friends in a positive environment.

Through its youth development programs and services, it works to change the lives of local kids and teens. Mark Kuhnhausen is the executive director of the nonprofit that helps hundreds of youths with a goal “to instill in them a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.”

Tickets are $100 and can be purchased at www.northidahobgc.org/
