Mayor, council to travel CDA streets — in wheelchairs

| August 5, 2021 1:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — No, it's not an impromptu wheelchair parade.

The Coeur d’Alene Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee has invited Mayor Steve Widmyer and City Council members to participate in a Wheelchair Challenge from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday.

The Wheelchair Challenge will begin at the Chamber of Commerce offices, travel down Sherman Avenue, and end at City Hall.

“We think this will bring attention to the issue facing wheelchair users,” said Sherrie Badertscher, executive assistant to the mayor.

Wheelchairs will be provided, and committee members will assist where needed. Participants are encouraged to speak with business owners and citizens along the way.
