Five female riders to take

part in Grit Challenge

Five women will embark on a five-day, 500-plus mile dirt bike challenge called the R'Idaho Grit, beginning on Saturday.

The team consists of 5 of the NW’s most notable riders: Dirtastic Founder Kalyn Benaroya of Hood River, Ore.; Kates Real Food (Kates Bars) Founder Kate Schade of Victor; Empire of Dirt owner Jamey Parks of Couer d'Alene; Enduro Method co-founder Dayne Toney of Driggs and co- owner of Feldt Excavation, Courtney Feldt of Whitefish, Mont.

Each rider will be aboard a 300cc trail bike (KTM and Husqvarna Motorcycles) for the duration of the ride, bringing only necessities with them. This point to point route will take the group from Challis through Stanley, Lowman, Pine, Smiley Creek, returning back the Challis. The majority of the miles ridden will be on technical backcountry single track. There will be no planned outside help to complete the challenge.

Each of the 100+ miles days of the Grit 3 loop will put each rider to the test mentally and physically. As a team they will not only work together to get through the challenge but they will depend on each other for support along the way.

Eastern Washington men's hoops

adds Folarin to 21-22 roster

Eastern Washington men's basketball coach David Riley added another addition to the 2021-22 squad in true freshman, Michael Folarin, the school announced on Tuesday.

Folarin is a 6-11 center who is originally from London, England, and prepped at Bella Vista College Preparatory School in Scottsdale, Ariz., before graduating in 2021. He is the 10th newcomer on this year's team and joins six returning letterwinners from last year's squad which advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

"We are excited to have a player with Michael's talent and ceiling coming into our program," Riley said. "He's long, quick, and has a hunger to develop his game."
