Mason, a rising sophomore at Lakeland High, recorded the final three outs of Friday’s class A Washington state championship game on the mound for the Mountaineers, who won 7-6 over Pasco. “He had quite a three-out performance when it mattered the most,” Northern Lakes coach Blaine Johnson said. “He struggled to throw strikes, so he found a way to get outs in other ways when his team needed him the most. He’s one of the most baseball savvy kids I’ve ever coached.”
