BROOKS: Conservative credentials

| August 1, 2021 1:00 AM

The push to recall Commissioner Bill Brooks is about as absurd as anything that has yet to come out of the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee. Really! Commissioner Brooks is a died-in-the-wool conservative Republican. He is steadfast on the protection of the Second Amendment. He owns guns and has shot skeet for years and is one of the ranked skeet shooting instructors in the nation.

Because he dared to think out of the box and suggest there may be a better way to govern the county and have five or seven commissioners is too much for some to swallow. Look at the cities in the county; Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, and Rathdrum. They have city councils consisting of more than three members and each has a city manager.

It is very possible this format will save money for taxpayers with little or no pay and no health insurance for five to seven commissioners with a county manager. The voters will decide and isn’t this the best way, to present the facts and let them vote?

Thanks Commissioner Brooks for looking for ways to help the taxpayers and the 40% increase in new citizens. I am not happy about the increase of county population, I can assure you.

Finally, the reason he left the Republican Party was to protect the citizens of Kootenai County from having the KCRCC appoint his replacement. Shades of North Idaho College keep coming to my mind.
