CRT: Liberal left weapon

I applaud the state legislature for protecting the education of children from the detestable racist indoctrination perpetrated by “critical race theory” (CRT). This theory asserts the existence of “white privilege” and rejects the concepts of “racial color blindness” and “merit principles.”

Proponents seem to ignore the improvements made in civil rights in the United States over the past 60 years. I distinctly recall my experience as an American of Mexican descent growing up in a predominantly African-American segregated community in Pasadena, Calif., when there did exist institutional racism.

However, American society has changed enormously to where societally the great majority of Americans no longer accept the principle of judging someone based on their race or ethnic heritage. The proponents for CRT appear to have abandoned the principle espoused by Martin Luther King Jr. which is that we should be judged by the content of our character and not by our race.

What I have concluded is that the political left in America is using CRT to divide Americans for the purpose of gaining sociopolitical power. I hope and pray that Americans will reject the destructive concepts of CRT by reflecting on how American society has changed for the better regarding race relations over the past 60 years.
