ANTIFA: Destroying beautiful Portland

Recently as I read the headlines from my online news source, I felt a heavy sadness. I am heartbroken to see images of Antifa burning businesses in downtown Portland again. I’ve loved Portland; the Rose City. I’m sure there are many people reading this who have a connection to Portland and may not even be aware of what the Democratic Party in the city and state has allowed to happen over the past many months.

I’ve been angry, frustrated and confused about it, but recent destruction just leaves me feeling sad. Seeing the fires that were set in the vicinity of Fourth and Yamhill and the looting of businesses such as Nordstrom and Apple made me think of the happy times my family has spent in this area.

Our daughter’s wedding reception was in a restaurant just blocks away. We have enjoyed delicious meals, shopping, hotels and parks over the years.

Last November, I wrote a letter to the editor asking Biden voters to explain what they liked about the Democrat platform; no writers responded. During the 2020 debates, Joe Biden faced the cameras and told us “Antifa is an idea, not an organization.” It was clearly not just an idea when they rioted before the election, and it certainly is not one now!

Our country is being “fundamentally changed” just as Obama promised, so I ask Democrats: “Why are you silent about the destruction of a once beautiful city?”
