Let the good times roar

COEUR d'ALENE — The 2020s will be roaring when the ladies of the Cancer and Community Charities nonprofit put on their annual fashion show and dinner May 6.

It'll be all glam and glitz with a theme of "Puttin' on the Ritz" in The Coeur d'Alene Resort. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

"We’ll be showing some dressier things," 3Cs member and fashion show coordinator Marie Widmyer said Tuesday. "We’re not going to show just leggings and sweats, which we’ve all been living in the last year. We definitely want to show some glitz and fun."

This is the first big in-person event for the 3Cs since the start of the pandemic.

"You can have a good time,” event chair Mary Lien said. "It is to bring people together, have fun, enjoy the company, get out and just gather."

The 3Cs Fashion Show is annually the biggest fundraiser for the philanthropic group, which, since its inception in 1962, has given away more than $2.3 million to Kootenai County charities.

Attendees will enjoy more than 40 fashion models crossing the runway in creative displays of clothing and accessories.

"We have all ages and sizes modeling,” Widmyer said. "It’s all local stores in Coeur d’Alene, promoting small business and shopping local.”

The evening will include raffles, auctions and an exciting opportunity to win a tropical getaway valued at $3,200.

"Our big raffle is the cruise raffle: Royal Caribbean," Lien said. "A cruise for two, a balcony overlooking the ocean and two years to book it. You don't have to be present to win it."

Music and dancing will also be tailored to the Roaring '20s theme.

All proceeds will go back into the community to support area nonprofits and causes.

"It's great to have a live event, in person," Widmyer said.

Tickets are $75, $40 of which is tax deductible.

For info and to buy tickets, call Sue Walker at 208-699-7349 or mail a check to the 3Cs at P.O. Box 1274, Coeur d'Alene, ID, 83816.

"Come have a good time and spend lots of money," Lien said with a smile.
