John ‘Dick’ Easterday, 90

| April 28, 2021 1:00 AM

John “Dick” Easterday, age 90, formerly of Bayview and Hayden, Idaho, passed away April 20, 2021 under the care of Hospice of Spokane.

Dick retired in 1988 from his supervisory position after 17 years at Boise Cascade, in Pasco, Wash., and moved to his lake home in Bayview, Idaho, to fish, golf, snowmobile, cut firewood and play pinochle. Most winters were spent in Tucson, Ariz., where trap shooting eventually replaced golfing. Dick won a gold medal in the Senior Olympics Trap Shooting in Tucson.

Soon after buying a motorhome, he joined a Good Sam group in Coeur d’Alene and Dick was eventually voted in as a state director, which meant traveling around the state and making many new friends.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers who tried to make his final days more pleasant. He loved their visits.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Darleen, mother of Michael (Judy) and Dixie (Chuck). Also preceding him in death were parents, Dutch and Lois Easterday, sister, Diana and brother, Ray, all of Clarkston, Wash.

Wife, Ardell Easterday and Dick’s stepchildren, Karen, Randall and Lori; grandchildren, Krystal, Barry, Jilleen, Bethany, Nova, Katie and Jennifer; and great-grandchildren, Casey, James, Briella, Emily, Nova, and Aurora will all miss grandpa Dick and remember fun times at the lake.

A Memorial Service for Dick will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2021, at Yates Funeral Home – Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden, Idaho 83835
