Spokane Indians tickets on sale starting today

SPOKANE — For the first time since September of 2019, baseball fans in the Inland Northwest can see the Spokane Indians play live at Avista Stadium. Single-game tickets go on sale today at 10 a.m. at SpokaneIndians.com.

All May games (12 total) will be available for purchase, beginning with the season opener Tuesday, May 4 vs. the Eugene Emeralds at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are limited, as stadium capacity is at 25%, and only available online at SpokaneIndians.com. All tickets are digital for the 2021 season and available in socially distanced seating pods throughout the stadium.

The Indians, in their first season as a High-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, will open the season against the Emeralds (a San Francisco Giants affiliate) in a six-game series. It’s the first time Spokane has hosted long-season baseball since 1982, when the Indians were a Triple-A affiliate of the California Angels.

Vandals add grad transfer Forsyth from Gonzaga

MOSCOW — Idaho women's basketball coach Jon Newlee announced the signing of Louise Forsyth to a national letter of intent during the late signing period.

Forsyth comes to Idaho after spending four seasons at Gonzaga. Forsyth will join the Vandals in 2021-22 along with five incoming freshmen and fellow graduate transfer, Tiana Johnson.

Forsyth, a 6-foot-1 guard from Langley, British Columbia, played in 93 games with Gonzaga, averaging 8.2 minutes per game. She scored 210 points during her career while shooting 37.1 percent from beyond the arc.

Prior to Gonzaga, Forsyth played basketball, volleyball and ran track for Brookswood Secondary. As a senior she was named the 2017 British Columbia Baden Player of the Year and the Brookswood Female Athlete of the Year while also winning three straight AAA Championships. Forsyth also played on two Canadian National Teams, winning gold at the 2015 FIBA Americas Tournament.

"Louise is extremely versatile offensively; she is a knock down shooter from beyond the arc and finishes well at the basket," Newlee said. "Her length and athleticism at 6-1 gives us a lot of options on the defensive end as well."

Kigab to return to Boise State next season

BOISE — Abu Kigab will return to the Boise State men’s basketball program next season, the rising fifth-year senior announced on Twitter and Instagram on Monday, taking advantage of the NCAA rule that allows student-athletes on 2020-21 rosters an extra season of eligibility.

Kigab played his first season and a half at Oregon before transferring to BSU in January 2019

“Abu’s presence has elevated this program from the day he got here,” Boise State coach Leon Rice said.

Kigab was an All-Mountain West second team selection last season, averaging 11.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.9 blocks per game. He was Boise State’s second-leading scorer and rebounder, while pacing the team with 22 blocked shots. His 31 steals also ranked second on the team.

Kigab started all 25 games he played, but missed the Mountain West Championship and National Invitation Tournament due to a shoulder injury sustained in the regular-season finale.

With Kigab back in the fold, the 2021-22 Broncos expect to welcome 12 returners, including three starters, from last year’s team which reached the quarterfinal of the NIT.
