LEVY: Retired — and supportive

| April 23, 2021 1:00 AM

We were so disappointed that our community failed to properly support our children when the recent Post Falls School District levy failed. This levy did not raise taxes, it simply kept in place what we were already paying.

I (Sharon) taught in the Post Falls School District for 25 years and was always impressed with how the district used our taxes to educate the children in our community. When I was working, I would encourage anyone who thought that money was misspent, or somehow thought the teachers could do better, to come in and actually see all of the excitement and learning that was going on. Post Falls’ teachers take time outside the classroom and work very hard to help struggling children. A great deal of hard work is done to prepare lessons for our children to become high achieving students.

We are retired, yet we feel that we still need to take care of our community through educating our students. Having the money to keep up with the technology necessary for them to become prepared adults in the business world is critical. All three of our children went through the Post Falls School District and have become responsible hardworking adults because of the education they received.

Please consider voting again in May in favor of the levy and remember it is for our children, those who will someday be the adults in our community. We need to take care of them now.
