COEUR d’ALENE — The 49th annual Home & Garden Show presented by the North Idaho Building Contractors Association begins at noon today at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds.
“We’ve got just about any type of thing you can look up for home improvements,” said Leslie Streeter, NIBCA executive officer.
Setup was coming along slow and steady Thursday with trucks coming and going, people putting up posters and setting out products designed to make your home picture perfect.
Petra Van Baar, designer with New Leaf Nursery, scaled a ladder for plant placement, adjusting greens just so, then moving on to the next one.
Not far away, block pavers formed a pristine patio, complete with fire pit. Streeter said there will be a variety of stones, sizes and patterns that the do-it-yourselfer could turn into a special setting in the backyard.
From blinds to backsplashes, doors to driveways, floors to flowers, gardens to gutters, and carpets to cabinets, the annual show will be packed with the ways and means to spruce up any property.
“You can find whatever you want,” Streeter said.
If it’s inspiration and ideas you’re after, the Home & Garden Show is for you as it pairs innovative products with local building experts. Big budgets aren't necessary.
“Every aspect of the home can be explored, from the smallest design to the largest house addition,” wrote NIBCA President Mike Moore of Hayden Homes. “Professionals are on hand to share their valuable knowledge to bring your ideas to life or inspire you with new ones.”
Vendors offering food and drink will be on hand, and Smokey Bear will stop in to visit with kids about fire danger.
The first 300 families in Building 19 each day will receive a free flower and there will be drawings for prizes, including a Fred’s Appliance washer and dryer.
While cold and chilly conditions are the forecast for the weekend, exhibits are inside and promise a warm welcome.
Hours are noon to 6 today, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets at the door are $6 for adults, while kids 12 and younger are free. Bring a can of food for the food bank and save $1.
