VOICES: Heed their warnings

| April 21, 2021 1:00 AM

I appreciate Dan Gookin and Christie Wood for refusing to be intimidated by members of the KCRCC who want to dictate what every Republican must say and do or else face party expulsion, personal condemnation or whatever other punishments they deem appropriate.

The hypocrisy is so apparent coming out of this so-called Republican committee who only allow freedom of speech and ideas that completely agree with their own. It is laughable that they call themselves Americans when they think and act like Russians.

I believe that most people in Idaho are moderately conservative no matter what their party affiliation is. Neither radical right nor radical left is what most of us are here in this beautiful state. Bipartisan cooperation that maintains independent freedoms is key. Yet, Idahoans also appreciate the need for government entities that use our tax money wisely to benefit our citizens with quality education, stimulation of our economy by attracting businesses and good paying jobs, and helping keep us safe, secure and able to have good quality health care.

Whether or not we are affiliated with a political party, each of us must pay closer attention to the people we vote for to represent us. Do your research and vote the person, not a particular political party. Just look around at all the growth problems North Idaho has been experiencing without accountability or an organized plan.

We ordinary citizens need to bravely use our voices like Christie Wood and Dan Gookin dared to do, and also our votes so Idaho stays the beautiful place that it has always been for us and our future generations.
