Peggy Jo ‘PJ’ Rickens Smith

| April 21, 2021 1:00 AM

Although she was born in Kellogg, Idaho, on May 5, 1958, PJ was a world traveler, fabulous cookie maker, loving mother, food critic of European cuisine, beer lover, horticulturist, and a movie and music enthusiast.

She was mother of two boys, the lights of her life: Tyler James Rickens Smith (Shawna) of Post Falls and Kyle Anthony Keith Smith (Debbie) of Hayden; and grandmother to four wonderful grandsons: Justice, Jayden, Teighan and Jensen. She survived childhood with sister, Teresa (Bill) Scott and brother, Larry (Angela) Rickens.

PJ inherited her sense of humor from father, Albert Rickens, and her stubbornness and thoughtfulness from mother, Lois Rickens - both deceased. Her life’s lessons, joys and traumas were shared with lifelong friend of over 50 years, Kathie Allen. PJ’s life was blessed with too many friends to mention, with the exception of her two most-used sounding boards: Evelyn Schwenk and Natalie Jones. She thanks everyone for the memories and friendships!

There will be a celebration of life in June of 2021, to be determined at a later time. Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit PJ’s online memorial and sign her guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com

P.S. – There were numerous rules dictated by PJ during the production of this obituary!
