NIC ROUNDUP: Swan takes medalist honors in Spokane

GOLF

SPOKANE — North Idaho College freshman James Swan finished with a 3-under 139 to earn men’s medalist honors in the Spokane Spring Invitational, which concluded on Tuesday at MeadowWood Golf Course.

Swan, who led after the first day with a 2-under 68, shot a 71 in the second round.

NIC edged Spokane 579-584 for the men’s team title.

Emily Elliott, a redshirt freshman, was NIC’s top finisher in the women’s tournament, finishing third with a 85-90—175.

Courtney Jackson of Spokane won women’s medalist with an 84-76—160.

NIC is scheduled to conclude the spring schedule with the North Idaho College Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Circling Raven Golf Course in Worley.

POSTPONEMENTS/CANCELLATIONS

Due to a COVID-19 outbreak within both schools, Tuesday's men's basketball game between North Idaho College and host Walla Walla, as well as a volleyball match between Walla Walla at NIC were canceled and will not be made up.

Thursday's softball games between NIC and Big Bend in Moses Lake, as well as Sunday's games at Memorial Field were canceled due to COVID issues within the Vikings' program.
