GIFT: Here’s what it meant

You stood just ahead of a man wearing an Army ballcap in the Post Falls Super 1 on April 16. You paid your bill and his, which was an amazing act of honor and generosity. You also gave him a hug.

The man you treated with such consideration is a highly decorated Army Ranger. He’s been shot down twice, had three Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars, one with the ‘V’ for distinctive valor, and a Silver Star.

He carries the emotional pain of his service with him every day, but yesterday you helped turn that tide. I can never thank you enough; I can never repay you for that shining moment of healing. What you did will never be forgotten.
