NIC GOLF: Swan, Cardinal men lead after first day of CCS tourney

LIBERTY LAKE — James Swan of North Idaho College shot a 4-under-par 68 on Monday for a five-shot lead after the first round of the Community Colleges of Spokane Spring Invitational at MeadowWood Golf Course.

Jared Smith and Garrett Bland are in a four-way tie for second after shooting 73s for the NIC men, who lead by 11 strokes over CC Spokane heading into today's final round.

In the women's tourney, Emily Elliott shot 85 and is in second place after the first day for NIC, which trails CCS by 18 strokes.
