RETIREE: Say ‘yes’ to levy

| April 18, 2021 1:00 AM

I am a concerned senior citizen writing in support of the Post Falls School District’s Levy. I am a retired teacher from Washington, and even though I have no children or grandchildren who live in the district, I know how important it is to have a strong and viable school district to support the children in our community. Investing in education is the responsibility of not only parents, but the entire community. A strong school system can help to create responsible future citizens.

It is my understanding that the $4.95 million of this “Renewal Levy” will not result in increased taxes. I feel that this amount in the face of a growing community, exemplifies the fiscal responsibility of the Post Falls School District.

The programs that will be supported by the levy are important to any modern school district. Such things as nurses, resource officers, extra-curricular activities, technology, trades training and possibly, the most important function of the levy, giving the Post Falls School District the ability to attract and retain skilled teachers.

I hope that the community will come together and vote yes on May 18.
