LEVY: This time, let’s do it

| April 18, 2021 1:00 AM

As a retired principal from Post Falls, I was saddened to hear that the supplemental levy failed in March. The levy has supported essential programs in the district for more than 30 years. When I was the principal at Frederick Post Kindergarten, our school benefited from the levy in many ways, including updated technology and curriculum. In addition, it supported our nursing staff and school resource officers.

My experience, as an employee and a patron of the Post Falls School District is that fiscal responsibility is a priority. This is evidenced by the levy amount requested…nearly half of the requested amount for Lakeland and less than a quarter requested by Coeur d’Alene. Lakeland has approximately one third less students than Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene has approximately one third more students than Post Falls.

I am thankful that the people of Post Falls voted yes on the levy when our children were students in the district. I urge you to join me in supporting our students and the future of our community by voting “YES” on the supplemental levy on May 18.
