Sallis makes it official, signs with Zags

SPOKANE — Highly touted guard Hunter Sallis, who recently gave a verbal commitment to play basketball at Gonzaga, has officially signed a letter of intent with the Zags, head coach Mark Few announced.

Sallis (6-4, 175, from Millard North High in Omaha, Neb.) is the third signee in program history to be named a McDonald's All-American, joining former GU standout Zach Collins and Jalen Suggs. Sallis is the No. 6 recruit in the 2021 Class on 247 Sports.

As a senior, Sallis averaged 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, leading Millard North to its first Class A state title. He finished with 1,819 career points, the third-most in Class A history. Sallis was the first five-star basketball recruit in Nebraska history. In the state championship game, Sallis totaled 25 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Sallis was one of 10 semifinalists for the Naismith Trophy national high school player of the year. He was also named to the USA Nike Hoop Summit team. Sallis was selected to play in the Allen Iverson Roundball Classic in Memphis, Tenn., on May 8.

“Hunter is a great person, that comes from a great family,” Few said. “He is a high character individual with a bright future. We’re looking forward to having him on our team and in our Zag family.”
