Ronald 'Ron' Ray Carter, 86

Ronald “Ron” Ray Carter, 86, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away March 25, 2021, with his loving wife, Robin and his daughter, Ann by his side. He was born in Colville, Wash., on Aug. 12, 1934, to Porter and Claudia Carter.

Ron attended school and graduated from Colville High School in 1952 and went on to attend Washington State University. On March 26, 1954, he married Virginia L. Baker and together they had two children, David Andrew and Ann Marie.

Ron worked as an electrician for Colville Electric and Avery Bros. Mill before starting his own business, Carter Electric.

He was active in Knights of Pythias, Masonic Lodge and Shriners. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent many summer weekends at the Carter family cabin on Lake Thomas.

In 1972 Ron took a position with Louisiana Pacific and the family moved to Post Falls, Idaho.

Ron met his second wife, Robin, in 1985 and they moved to Port Angeles, Wash., where he worked as a millwright for 13 years. Upon retiring, Ron and Robin bought an RV and traveled for 20 years before settling down in Coeur d’Alene.

Ron is survived by his wife, Robin; son, David Andrew Carter (Patti); daughter, Ann Marie Kendrot; and the mother of his children, Virginia Carter; stepson, Jason Vasseur and stepdaughter, Karin Vasseur; brother, Donald Carter (Louise); eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron will be remembered most for his quick wit and his fun-loving sense of humor. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
