SOFTBALL

SPIRIT LAKE — Bernie Carhart homered and drove in eight runs, and struck out seven in five innings as the Timberlake Tigers routed the Sandpoint Bulldogs 20-2 in nonleague play Thursday.

Carhart drove in six runs alone in an 11-run second inning for Timberlake (7-3). She hit a three-run homer, then added a three-run double as the Tigers sent 17 to the plate.

“She’s come a long way with her pitching, and offensively she has been hitting the ball really hard, and today she was finding holes all over the field,” Timberlake coach Casi Lupinacci said.

The Tigers, who won 14-2 at Sandpoint four weeks ago, totaled 21 hits. Peyton Lindley went 4 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Logan Walsh and Lacey Peterson each went 3 for 4, and Lily Carhart drove in three runs.

Sandpoint is 6-5.

Timberlake travels to Priest River today for a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
