AAU BASKETBALL

The North Idaho Storm eighth-grade boys AAU basketball team placed third in the Spokane Warehouse Welcome Back tournament this past weekend.

The Storm beat Havoc 53-24, lost to Farm Roots Hoops 66-41, and TCB 57-44 in the semi final, before beating Hoop Dreams 47-42 in the third-place game.

Four-game point totals for the Storm are as follows: Zach Bell 46, Carter Vanek 40, Garrett Varner 34, Mason Hensley 28, Evan Hensyel 11, Carter Kloos 11, Cy Coppinger 7, Cole Coppinger 5.

Next up for the Storm is the Inland Empire AAU Championships April 23-25th at the Warehouse in Spokane.

Courtesy photo FBC (Finest Basketball Club) Idaho is a member of the FBC Northwest Alliance girls travel basketball program. This program features top players from the greater Northwest region. FBC Idaho 15U is made up of local North Idaho girls. This team took first place at the End of Trail Gem State Classic, Division 2 bracket, finishing 4-0 in the Boise area over the weekend. The event featured many top teams from the West Coast. In the front row from left are coach Terry Zufelt, Sophie Zufelt and Brooklynn Brennan; and back row from left, Mya Alvarado, Kamryn Pickford, Avery Waddington, Kurtsten McKellips, KaLiah Frazey and coach Kevin Pickford.

Photo by SUZI ENTZI Last weekend marked the season opener for Thorns 08 Girls Red soccer team. Saturday the Thorns beat EW Surf White Cardenas 4-2. Talia Lambro (pictured in red, center) had 3 goals and Alli Carrico had 1 goal. Avery Lathen had 2 assists and Izzie Grimmett had 1 assist the Thorns. On Sunday the Thorns fell to Spokane Sounders Valley Rave 3-0. Macy Walter and Adysen Robinson defended the goal all weekend for the Thorns.

Courtesy photo Senior baseball player Spencer Zeller is this week's Post Falls High School Athlete of the Week. Zeller had an .889 on-base percentage over the weekend, including 2 singles and a double. He also scored 6 runs and played very well in center field in the doubleheader vs Lewiston.
