LEVY: Yes for critical support

| April 14, 2021 1:00 AM

I am writing to urge the citizens of Post Falls to vote YES for the school levy on May 18. An educated population is necessary for a healthy community. This community has always supported its schools. We need to do so again.

The Post Falls School District has always been fiscally conservative. Just look at the difference between the Post Falls’ levy and Coeur d’Alene’s or Lakeland’s. Coeur d’Alene asked for $20 million a year; Lakeland asked for almost $10 million. Both passed. Post Falls’ was for $4.95 million. Post Falls has one of the lowest taxing rates in the area and the state. This is a replacement levy, it will not raise taxes.

These dollars will be used to purchase curricular materials, keep nurses and Resource Officers in our schools, maintain the programs at KTEC, support athletics and keep highly qualified teachers in our classroom. The levy may be called a “supplemental” levy, but I believe that it is actually essential.

For these reasons, I urge Post Falls School District citizens to vote YES on May 18.
