Brent Alan Michael, 35

| April 14, 2021 1:00 AM

Brent Alan Michael, 35, lifelong resident of St. Maries, Idaho, passed away at his home from natural causes on April 10, 2021. He was born to Gary Michael and Lisa (Pugh) Michael-Julian on Aug. 19, 1985.

Brenner grew up in St. Maries and started working as soon as he was old enough. He took pride in paying for his own things and was very independent. He started working in Buell’s shop and then Danielson’s shop before he graduated high school. Brenner graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 2003.

Following high school, he stayed on with Danielson, and then went on to work for a few other logging companies. He was an exceptionally hard worker and took pride in everything he did. Brenner tested out all sorts of logging equipment before he found out he excelled in a log processor. He won Log Quality of the Year through Hester Logging and he was proud of that accomplishment, claiming it was a team effort. Although Brenner joked around all of the time he was very serious about his job and fully believed you should put in 110% at work.

Brenner enjoyed everything the great outdoors had to offer. He was on skis by the age of 4 and ended up on a snowboard in his teens. He rode motorcycles, 4-wheelers, snow cats, and camped most of his life. Fishing trips (specifically for salmon) with his stepdad, Gabe, were always something he looked forward to.

He also enjoyed attending concerts, supporting Rock 94½, and sporting his silly T-shirts. He will be remembered for the way he loved living life and his infectious laugh. He lived more in 35 years than most do in a long lifetime. Brenner didn’t know a stranger and he easily made friends, making everyone he met feel special.

The last eight months of Brenner’s life were spent being busy with his girlfriend, Hannah Herzog. The couple quickly fell in love and Brenner’s family knew she was the best thing that happened to him. He was in love with her and her children, and they had hopes of marrying next summer.

Brenner is survived by his parents, Lisa (Gabe) Julian of St. Maries and Gary (Lee Ann) Michael of Fernwood, Idaho; sister, Amy (Rusty) Telford of St. Maries; grandparents, Ron (Darla) Pugh of St. Maries and Carolyn Johnson of Clarkston, Wash.; nieces, Jayd and Ruby Telford; fiancée, Hannah Herzog and her two children, Keely and Vinny; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Alan “Mule” and Myrna Michael; cousin, Kevin Bailey; and his beloved Riggin.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Celebrate Recovery, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 130 S. 10th St., St. Maries, ID 83861.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2021, at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in St. Maries with a meal following. Please visit his online memorial at hodgefuneralhome.com.
