Post Falls Chamber endorses levy

| April 9, 2021 1:00 AM

The business community recognizes that a well-rounded education is the foundation for a healthy business environment. In partnership with the Post Falls School District, the chamber has created a number of programs that help students understand future employment options within our Community. These programs include: Reverse Job Fair, Hard Hats Hammers and Hot Dogs, and the Student of the Month recognition. We also recognize the significant role the PFSD has in the creation and operation of KTEC which provides workforce training to high school students that prepares them for careers in demand locally.

Passing replacement levies will provide important local funding that schools need to maintain essential services and programs, extra-curricular activities, stay current on advances in technology and curriculum and assist in maintaining the district’s buildings and transportation assets. Levies also fund important staff positions ranging from nurses to school resource officers to help keep our schools healthy and safe.

Large employers in the region, including Kootenai Health and North Idaho College employ students who graduated from our local schools and those students have built careers, homes and families here.

The proposed levy amount replaces an expiring levy and will remain at $4.955 million per year for two years. If approved, the proposed levy will NOT increase the average Post Falls taxpayer’s school district taxes.

The Post Falls Chamber Board of Directors fully supports the upcoming Post Falls School District Supplemental Levy. Please join us in supporting our schools and voting YES for our future on May 18.
